Ustica Pyramids Dive
Medium Difficulty – Depth 0/50 meters
Ustica Pyramids Dive, from the depths of the sea huge mountains of lava rock rise, like pyramids, all around a paradise of light and colors, of marine life that gathers here.
The site is located not far from the Spalmatore coast, on the edge of the integral marine reserve area. The Pyramids is a coveted site for divers with a Deep Diver license. This dive is very popular for the conformation of the two submerged mountains and the narrow canyons.
The fun begins just after 3-4 meters, where it is possible to observe numerous species of small fish and large specimens of starfish, such as the red star and the thorny star. Continuing the descent, once you reach a depth of 8-10 meters, the algal cover gives way to an extensive prairie of posidonia, the most important marine phanerogam in the Mediterranean, where you can discover a variety of fish and marine invertebrates.
On the border between the plateau and the coast line, there is the entrance to a steep canyon, suitable for divers who love wall diving. Arrived at 35 meters, the canyon ends in a large space delimited, on the left by large rocky ridges and on the right by a large wall. Keeping the wall to your right, you can find the entrance to a large cave, where large specimens of castanets and numerous spirographs emerge from the sandy bottom. Once you have reached the base of the quay, you can make the safety stop. The Pyramids of Ustica are located in zone B of the Ustica Island Protected Marine Area.
The volcanic nature of Ustica has made the seabed of the works of art unmissable for those who love the sea and its underwater world.
